2015-2016 Dallas Cotes du Coeur

STEWART CELLARS

Michael Stewart came to the Napa Valley in 2000, intent on making high-quality wines that meet the expectations Napa Valley wines demand. He and his wife, Anne, sought out one of the most renowned winemakers, Paul Hobbs. Together with Hobbs, the family produces small lots of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Merlot, Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay and the flagship wine, Stewart “Nomad”.

THE VINEYARDS

At Stewart, we pay close attention to securing long-term grape contracts with premium vineyards, forever aiming for consistent quality and meaningful partnerships. For NOMAD, Beckstoffer’s Las Piedras vineyard has delivered every season since coming online in 2005. Max Vineyard and Dana Estate’s Crystal Springs make up our Stewart Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Goldrock Ridge for Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Farina for our Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay. We pay close attention to quality but also the marketability of a vineyard. Combining a renowned winemaker and recognized vineyards result in superior quality every time.

THE WINES

Consulting winemaker Paul Hobbs has been with Stewart since the winery’s inception. The wines are made at his facility, Crossbarn Winery, in Sebastopol. The combination of the Napa’s and Sonoma’s most coveted fruit sources, one of the world’s preeminent consulting winemakers and a focus on limited production enable Stewart to deliver the best quality possible.

ABOUT THE STEWART FAMILY

Stewart begins and ends with family and its dedication to making something tangible and

enduring. After 24 years building his tech business, Michael Stewart sold his company and began Stewart Cellars. While Michael was very successful in the tech world, he still says his greatest accomplishment has been enticing his son and daughter to come work

for him at Stewart Cellars. Son, James, finally got the itch to trade L.A.’s entertainment world for the agrarian creativity of Napa Valley. He left his job working in reality-TV and movie soundtracks just in time to work harvest in 2006. Today, James runs the day-to-day operations of the business; overseeing every market, responding to his customer’s needs, and meeting the rigorous demands of an ever-changing economy.Daughter, Caroline, an Economics major with her father’s analytical mind and her mother’s exceptional palate, was inspired to turn her appreciation of wine into a career. After working in wine distribution, she began her foray into winemaking with an apprenticeship at Viña Cobos in Argentina. Caroline met her husband, Blair Guthrie, at Crossbarn. Today, Caroline and Blair work on all production matters. From vineyard sourcing through bottling, Caroline and Blair work with Paul as Stewart’s winemakers; ensuring a lasting legacy for the family winery. Stewart Cellars is building its first tasting room on Washington Street in Yountville, CA and will be open in Summer 2016.
