Mesquite Goes Red
Friday, February 7, 2014

Thanks to Our Generous Sponsors

Mesquite ISD has been a long time partner with the American Heart Association and champions the importance of heart healthy living and awareness of heart disease - the leading cause of death in America for men and women. Last year the Mesquite ISD ranked No. 1 in the SouthWest Affiliate in support of National Wear Red Day. Approximately 700 staff and students donated over $22,000 to the mission of the GO RED campaign.

Now, we ask you to join forces with the school district, to capitalize on this amazing opportunity and be the first city in the country to completely GO RED on February 7, 2014. We can showcase the giving spirit of Mesquite but we need you to make this happen.

    • SURVIVOR STORY
    • My name is Marcus Hamilton and I am 11 years old. When I was born my parents and family found out that I had a hole in my heart.  When I was 8 months old I had my first surgery. During that surgery the doctors fixed the hole in my heart. About 6 years later I had a second heart surgery and this time the doctors had to replace my valve. I still might have to have another surgery when I grow up.

Next school year I will be going into Middle School and will get to play football. This will be the first time that I will play sports and I am excited now that I am healthy.

I have done Jump Rope For Heart since Kindergarten and most of the time I was the top fundraiser. I feel that the more money I can raise for the American Heart Association, the better technology there will be for other kids with sick hearts!
