Our Wine

Red Mare wines are made by-hand at Napa Wine Company, located in Oakville. The grapes that go into each bottle are sourced from vineyards selected by Anne to produce fruit-forward wines reflective of their terroir. Red Mare’s wine portfolio includes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Our Winemaker

Anne Vawter is one of Napa Valley’s most promising next-generation winemakers. After working for four years as assistant winemaker at Paradigm Winery for Heidi Barnett, one of the world’s renowned winemakers (www.lasirenawine.com), Anne started Red Mare Wines.

Growing up in Walla Walla, she developed a deep appreciation for agriculture from her father, a farmer, and inherited his love of wine. Growing up, he introduced her to local wines such as Leonetti, L’Ecole No. 41, and other wines from around the world. He also inspired her to reconsider a career in dentistry to enroll in the UC Davis enology program. After graduating with A Bacherlors Degree in Enology and Viticulture, she worked for wineries in Washington and Chile before settling in Napa.

Anne also maintains a winemaking consulting practice and produces wine for Oakville Ranch Vineyards, Ziata Wines, and Teaderman Vineyards.
